First in Service Friday: Zachary Robinson

MARCH 31, 2023

FIRST IN SERVICE FRIDAY.  Please help the City of Myrtle Beach congratulate Zachary Robinson of the Information Technology Department for being this week's First in Service Friday Employee of the Week! Zachary has been with the city for six months, and is originally from Long Island, New York. While his co-workers admire his skills to keep our cyber security top-notch, he's receiving this week's award for his quick-thinking actions out of the office. Read below for Zachary's nomination:
"I’d like to nominate Zachary Robinson for First in Service Friday. He stepped in and prevented what could have been a bad accident from happening today (March 23) during his lunch break.

At about 11:45 a.m., Zachary left for lunch and noticed a black car driving itself past our building on Oak Street. He felt something was off, pulled his car out of the way and went to the black car. He noticed a woman passed out in the driver's seat. He tried waking her to no avail and could not open her car's door. He pushed on the car to help guide it to a sign post, where it finally stopped. He continued to try to wake her up, called 9-1-1 and coordinated with other passers-by to get help to the lady. Someone else nearby ran to the Myrtle Beach Train Depot where some Myrtle Beach Police officers happened to be inside, and got immediate assistance for Zachary and the woman. No one was hurt, and EMS arrived to treat the woman.

Not only is he a hero on the street, he’s also the main one watching our network for security threats! He is always watching for bad players and weaknesses in our network. He keeps City of Myrtle Beach internet users and city information as safeguarded as possible."
Zachary, thank you for being a good sport and letting us brag on you! Also, thank you for your selfless actions. We appreciate you and are lucky to have you as a City of Myrtle Beach employee.
