A new mural soon will greet visitors in Myrtle Beach’s Arts & Innovation District. This week, the Community Appearance Board approved the “Give a Child Some Paint” project submitted by the City of Myrtle Beach. The mural’s location will be on the south-facing wall at 522 Broadway Street, adjacent to a vacant lot.
Myrtle Beach city staff will paint the mural, beginning sometime in mid-October. Since we aren’t artists, the mural will use a “paint by number” format. For more details, contact Brian Schmitt with the City of Myrtle Beach’s Downtown Development Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Looking for other murals locally? The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, F.G. Burroughs-S.B. Chapin Art Museum and The Arts Grand Strand partnered to launch the Myrtle Beach Arts & Gallery Trail this month. Art lovers use a mobile device to access a list of more than 100 trail sites.
Locations include galleries, sculptures, murals and public art. Users can check-in at each site to earn points for prizes! For more information and a list of stops, see https://www.visitmyrtlebeach.com/artstrail/.
