More than 100 people took part in Overdose Awareness Day this past Wednesday, August 31, in Myrtle Beach’s Chapin Park. The national event recognizes the toll that opioid and other drug addictions take on society. Overdose Awareness Day is a chance to remember those who died and to acknowledge the grief of the family and friends they left behind. The evening included speakers, community organizations, on-site resources, food and ribbons to remember those we’ve lost to drug overdoses. Myrtle Beach city staff members were on hand as part of the larger community which feels the effects of this issue.
