Citizens Police Academy applications are now available

Applications for the 36th Session of Myrtle Beach Police Department's popular Citizens Police Academy are now being accepted...

Applications are being accepted until 5:00 p.m., Monday, July 30, for the 36th session of the Citizens Police Academy.  The program allows participants to get a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement.  Topics include crime scene investigation, K-9 units, emergency vehicle operations and simulated firearms training.  Class members also ride along with Myrtle Beach police officers. 

The class meets from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. every Monday for 10 weeks.  Applicants must be residents of Horry County and at least 21 years old.  A valid driver’s license is required, along with criminal history check and driver’s license background check.  
Once accepted, class members must attend at least eight of the 10 sessions to graduate.  Applications are available in person at the Ted C. Collins Law Enforcement Center, the Law Enforcement Center Annex or online at www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/CPA%20Application.pdf.
