First in Service Friday: David Gleaton

MAY 19, 2023

FIRST IN SERVICE FRIDAY.  Please help the City of Myrtle Beach congratulate David Gleaton for being this week's First in Service Friday Employee of the Week! If you frequent Robert H. Reed Recreation Center, you probably know David! He's the Robert H. Reed Recreation Center supervisor. He has worked for the City of Myrtle Beach for 18 years and started his career at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, making the move to the Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism Department in 2017. David says he loves his career because he likes to help the recreation center's guests, see smiles on the faces of patrons and have fun! His nomination reads:

"I would like to nominate David Gleaton for the First In Service award. For the past year, the home of our DEI Action Team has been General Robert H. Reed Recreation Center. David Gleaton is the Recreation Supervisor for the facility and from day one, made accommodations for our team to utilize space within the facility. He made sure that the room was always set up just the way we wanted, had access to the kitchen area, the technology that we needed, and he made sure that we didn’t want or need anything. He had to juggle things around a couple of times just to make it work for us. I remember once he was unexpectedly out of the office, but he still made sure that we had everything we needed to have a successful meeting.

Some may say that David Gleaton is just doing his job, but I would argue that it’s not what he does, it’s the way he goes about his business being kind, courteous, and going the extra mile to make sure that customers are satisfied not just externally but also internally. David Gleaton is an example of what my parents taught me as a child. They taught me that “charity begins at home.” In other words, how can we truly serve the public if we are not serving one another? Thank you David for all that you do!"

Wow, thank you David! You are truly #FirstinService and appreciated.
