TD Tree Days awards the City of Myrtle Beach more than $9,000 to plant trees and shrubs

The City of Myrtle Beach has received a $9,475 grant from TD Tree Days to plant trees and shrubs around the Myrtle Beach Train Depot and to replace trees along Broadway Street in the Arts & Innovation District. The work will occur this fall. TD Tree Days is TD Bank’s urban greening program designed to build healthy, vibrant communities by improving the local environment. More than 430,000 trees and shrubs have been planted nationwide with the help of volunteers since TD Bank began the program in 2010. Previously, the City of Myrtle Beach has received grants totaling $75,781 from TD Bank for five projects. The funds were used to plant 71 trees and create educational signage at Bathsheba Bowens Park; to plant 15 trees with benches, picnic tables, landscaping and irrigation at Myrtle’s Market; to plant 40 trees in Futrell Park; to plant 40 trees at the intersection of US 501 and Third Avenue South; and to plant 42 trees in Withers Swash Park.
