Wall of Service

Everyone who served honorably at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, whether military or civilian, is eligible to be recognized with an engraved granite nameplate on the Wall of Service at Warbird Park on Farrow Parkway.  A Nameplate Directory (as of November 2023) is available, although recent additions may not have been installed.  To view photos of Warbird Park, click here.

ENGRAVED NAMEPLATES AVAILABLE

If you, a family member or a loved one served on the former base between 1941 and 1993, you may purchase a nameplate for a $20 donation.  The engraved nameplates will be two inches tall by seven inches wide, in black granite.  Text is limited to grade, name and years of service.  You may complete the information online, including a payment by credit card.  Or, you may print and complete the Wall of Service Application (PDF) and mail it with your payment to:

NAMEPLATE DATABASE & EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT

Socastee High School student Cole Smith has completed his Eagle Scout project at Myrtle Beach’s Warbird Park.  Smith’s Eagle Scout effort had three parts.  He first created a searchable database of names on the wall so that people could easily find the actual nameplate on the wall.  By adding row and column markers to the wall, as shown in the photo below, he provided a handy cross-reference guide.  Here is the link to the searchable nameplate database:  https://sites.google.com/view/warbirdpark/wall-of-service. 

Working with other Scouts, Smith and his team improved the landscaping throughout the park, trimmed bushes and cleaned feature elements.  The final item involved placing QR code markers at certain elements throughout the park.  The QR codes take visitors to a series of YouTube videos which Cole produced about the people, places and planes of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base.
