Santa Claus received a warm welcome from children at Myrtle Beach’s third annual Garden of Hope Tree Lighting Ceremony on Carver Street. The jolly old elf arrived on a big red sleigh (better known as a fire truck), greeted everyone and then passed out toys! The event is sponsored by the city’s Neighborhood Services Department. Mrs. Claus read to the children and gave each a book, while Santa Claus listened to their wishes and delivered presents. The Myrtle Beach High School Show Choir performed, while everyone enjoyed refreshments and the tree lighting. Even with a little rain, a record crowd was on hand for Santa’s arrival.
