Myrtle Beach’s Arts & Innovation District is coming into existence with renovation and construction work currently underway on seven downtown buildings.   The former Edwards Five and Dime that fronts Nance Plaza on Kings Highway is being converted into a brewery on the first floor and residential living upstairs.  Work is expected to wrap on the historic transformation by year’s end, with business activity beginning in early 2021.  Meanwhile, on Ninth Avenue North, asbestos abatement has been underway on three of the six buildings to be renovated, one of which will become a future co-working space funded in part by a grant from HTC.  The city will receive bids in mid-August for those historic projects, including renovation of the original facades.
