Stroll the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, and you'll find the history of the city and the Grand Strand.  Two dozen historical markers exist from Plyler Park to First Avenue along the 1.3 mile boardwalk.   Enjoy the ocean scenery and learn why the area is called the Grand Strand, why Myrtle Beach is so named and how the area looked in the 1950s.  Local flora and fauna are featured, along with the history of our significant hurricanes, Hugo and Hazel.  Other topics include the Kings Highway and 19th century salt works.  The historic markers were conceived by Peter MacIntyre and installed in 2016 and 2017.
