OVERVIEW

The home of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans is jointly owned by the City of Myrtle Beach and Horry County in a 70-30 ratio.  The stadium cost $12 million to build when new ($10 million from the city and county, and another $2 million from the Pelicans).  Since then, the team has invested an additional $1 million in expansions and improvements.

FACILITY

The Pelicans' ballpark is ADA-compliant.  It features 5,200 fixed seats from Fulton County Stadium, former home of the Atlanta Braves.  Maximum capacityPelicans Park with standing room is 6,600 attendees.  The stadium has nine luxury suites, each designed for 24 guests.  In 2009, the stadium was ranked as the top ballpark in the Carolina League by Baseball America.  Ground was broken for the stadium in March 1998, with the first game played on April 12, 1999.  The field dimensions are:  328 feet down the right field line, 308 feet down the left field line and 400 feet to center field.  Special seating areas include Pelican Beach in left field, which can accommodate up to 120 for private outings.  Post-game fireworks are frequently offered.
