Workforce Housing Advisory Board

Want to serve on the new Workforce Housing Advisory Board for Myrtle Beach?   “Workforce housing” generally means housing that is affordable for working families and which would allow them to live inside the city limits, near their place of employment.   The Myrtle Beach City Council has eight seats to fill on the Workforce Housing Advisory Board, each chosen for his/her demonstrated interest in promoting the development of workforce housing and the stabilization of neighborhoods in the City of Myrtle Beach.

Of the eight members, one shall be from the financial or banking industry, one shall be from a home builders’ association, one shall be a licensed realtor, one shall represent interests of the hospitality industry, one shall be a city or school district employee, one shall represent the Chamber of Commerce, one shall represent the health care industry and one shall represent the local clergy.   The other six members of the board will be the Planning Director, the Executive Director of the Downtown Redevelopment Corporation, the Neighborhood Services Director, an appointee by Habitat for Humanity and an appointee by New Directions.

To be considered for one of these volunteer positions, submit a letter of interest and a brief biography or résumé to the City Clerk, P.O. Box 2468, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578.  Or, send an email to
jstanford@cityofmyrtlebeach.com.  If you'd like to deliver your biography or résumé in-person, bring materials to City Hall, 937 Broadway Street, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
