Ribbon Cutting Set for May 6

Everyone's invited to the restored Myrtle Beach Train Depot at noon on Thursday, May 6 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house, followed by free train rides.  Come join the All Aboard Committee and other city officials and residents as they celebrate the completion of this project.  Free train rides will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00 that afternoon.  The train will travel across the Intracoastal Waterway and back, about a 45-minute round-trip.

Remembering the Depot

Tell us your story about the Myrtle Beach Train Depot!  We would love to hear your memories of this historic building.  Plans are under way to assemble a history of the depot and the railroad, but we need your help.  Contact any committee member for additional information about sharing your memories.

Making a Donation

The Myrtle Beach City Council established the All Aboard Committee, and the city purchased the depot building for $750,000.  The committee hopes to raise $670,000 to restore and reuse the historic train depot on Ninth Avenue Extension, near Broadway.  So far, the committee has more than $600,000 in contributions and pledges, and the restoration is underway!

The committee has created several gifts as a way of saying "thanks" for contributions. For example, a framed print of Harry Love’s watercolor painting of the depot is available for a $350 donation. Unframed prints are available in return for a $250 donation. Or, if you prefer, you can have one of 50 limited edition models of the depot for a $250 donation. The hand-crafted models are being created by Ed Sharrett and are signed and numbered.

Finally, the committee will reserve engraved pavers in exchange for donations of $50, $125 or $500. A four-by-eight-inch paver with two lines of text is available for $50 donations, while a larger, 12-inch-square paver with four lines of text is available for gifts of $125. The larger pavers with an engraved company logo are available for a gift of $500.

Contact staff or the committee members for additional information about making a contribution to preserve this historic structure.
