The following classes and activities are offered at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center. Pre-registration is required for all classes. For more information, call Pepper Geddings Recreation Center at 918-2280 or come by the center at 3205 Oak Street and sign up! We reserve the right to cancel any class that does not meet minimum enrollment. Cant find a class or activity to suit your needs? Call 918-2280 and discuss it with us. Birthday Parties: Pepper Geddings Recreation Center offers the opportunity for you to celebrate birthdays at our facility. The hourly room rental fee is $18.75 for city residents and $31.31 for non-city residents. If you choose to swim, there is a $1.00 fee per child. Chairs and tables will be provided. Birthday party request forms are available at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center. For more information, call 918-2280. YOUTH PROGRAMS Summer Sport and Fitness Camps: The perfect combination of fun, fitness and instruction for your kids. All camps meet Monday through Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m. (with early drop-off as early as 8:00 a.m.) and ending at 2:00 p.m. each day. Children must be picked up by 6:00 p.m. and may choose to swim or play in the gym after camp for no additional fee. Register early to ensure space is available. Camps are open to the first 50 participants. Fees: $50 City Resident / $85 Non City Resident. Bring your own lunch.
Lacrosse Camp: Learn this active sport at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center, July 13 - 16, from 6:00 8:00 p.m. This one week camp will finish with a clinic by members of the Chicago Machine Major League Lacrosse Team. The camp is open to youth ages 7 to 17. Recreation Staff and local coaches will run drills and team play to improve your game, stick work and position play. The camp is included free with your paid registration to the True Lacrosse All Pro Clinic. Pre-registration is required.
The Myrtle Beach Recreation Division is sponsoring the True Lacrosse All Pro Clinic from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 17. Mike Gabel, Chicago Machine Goalie and Matt Starker, Chicago Machine Midfielder will conduct drills and instruct the youth as well as answer questions and sign autographs. The clinic is open to youth ages 7 to 17. Fees: $15 City Resident / $25 Non City Resident. Pre-registration is required prior to July 3.
Basketball Camp: Go to the next level! These camps are packed with competition and drills to boost your skills. All players will learn to apply their abilities through individual and group instruction. Continue developing your talents throughout the summer.
Grades 2 5: June 22 - 25, August 3 - 7
Volleyball Camp: Be a step ahead! Learn the basics of volleyball or increase your abilities. This camp will teach all the fundamentals of serving, passing, setting, blocking, and spiking. These skills will advance your game for beach play or making the school team. Camp will meet indoors and outdoors, as appropriate to best teach the skills of the sport.

Soccer Camp: Take the lead! Improve your personal skills; learn the basics of ball handling and team play. Drills and game situations will be used to emphasize both individual improvement and teamwork. This camp will meet indoors and outdoors, as appropriate to best teach the skills of the sport.
Grades 3 5: June 22 26, July 13 - 17
All Sport Camp: Prepare to compete! This camp will introduce the campers to basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball and lacrosse as well as increase their skill and understanding of these games. Fun and fitness will be emphasized along with the fundamentals of speed, coordination, agility and strength. Skills will be taught in a non-threatening environment and age appropriate equipment will be used to minimize fear and optimize success. This camp will meet indoors and outdoors, as appropriate to best teach the skills of the sport.
Grades 2 5: June 15 19, July 6 10, July 27 - 31
Triathlon Camp: This camp will focus on the three disciplines that make up a triathlon swimming, biking, running. Each day, Monday through Thursday, will consist of training the in the pool, biking the block around Pepper Geddings and running throughout the complex. The camp will conclude with Race Day Friday. Campers must be able to swim two laps of the pool to attend this camp. Campers must have a bike and helmet to attend this camp. Bikes may be left at Pepper Geddings for the week.

Summer Youth Basketball League: Competitive play! Two age groups. Register early, space is limited. Warm-ups: 5:30 p.m. Games: 6:00 and 7:30 p.m. Fees: $15 City Resident / $25 Non City Residents.
Ages 11 13 Monday and Wednesday Ages 14 17 Tuesday and Thursday Skate Clinic: Kids ages 8-11 learn to skate in a fun and safe atmosphere! Clinics are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Matt Hughes Skate Park, behind Pepper Geddings. This is a free program, but registration at Pepper Geddings is required to participate. Helmets are required. Karate: (Ages 5 & Over) Tae Kwon Do is a martial art that uses both the hands and feet. It is a sport that physically benefits the whole body. One can develop flexibility, stamina, motor skills, strength, energy, self-confidence and balance. Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Classes are ongoing, with fees due at the start of each month. New members are always welcome. Fees: $7 City Resident / $12 Non-City Resident, monthly at the front desk, and $24 monthly to the instructor. SPRING ADULT FITNESS ACTIVITIES
Learn to Series: Its a great time to try
something new! Learn to run, bike or swim for fitness.
These classes are geared for beginners who are
interested in group training, challenging workouts, and
fun. A qualified coaching staff will be sure you are
doing your best and enjoying success. Monthly schedule
includes Learn to Run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from
9:30-11:00 a.m.; Learn to Swim on Mondays, Wednesdays,
and Fridays from 12:00 -1:00p.m.; and Learn to Bike on
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30-8:45 p.m. Choose one
or all three. Monthly fee for one activity is $12 City
Residents and $20 Non-City Residents, two activities is
$20 City and $33, all three activities is $30 City and
$58 Non-City Residents.
Boot Camp: The toughest class youll ever love. Learn the secrets of fitness-hard work and sweat! This class will combine cardio, strength and flexibility and all the moves to make you feel the burn. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:15-8:15 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Fees: $20 City / $33 Non-City Resident. BOSU: Do you BOSU? Join our latest class. BOSU is a great way to improve core strength and tone your abdominal and back muscles. Classes meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:30-4:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30-11:00 a.m. or 5:30-6:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00-9:45 a.m. (this class runs for April and May). The monthly fee is $10 for City Residents/ $17 for non-City Resident. Body Sculpt: This is an intense, full body workout designed to stretch and tone all muscles. Class meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 - 10:45 a.m. Monthly fees are $20 City Resident/$33 Non-City Resident. Cardio Circuit: Fast paced workout designed to strengthen and tone all major muscle groups. Cardio Circuit utilizes the principles of circuit training and interval training to get the most out of this intense 45 minute class. Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15-7:00 p.m. or Saturdays from 10-10:45 a.m. (this class runs April & May). Fees: $20 City/$33 Non-City Resident. Family Fun and Fitness: Bring your family for a great workout and enjoy time together. Immediate families are invited to come together for this time of fitness activities geared for children ages 5 through 85! Class meets Saturday 10:30-11:30 a.m. from April 18 - June 6, 2009. Fitness Over 50: A fun and active workout geared just for our over 50 folks. Upbeat music, moderate impact activity and a group of folk from age 50-90 are the perfect combination for fun! Class meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Fees: $42 City Resident/$70 Non-City Resident for 24 visits. Class is on-going, and new members are always welcome. Myrtle Beach Triathlon Club: Pepper Geddings is excited to add a new triathlon training club this season. Anyone interested in swimming, running and/or biking for health, fitness or competition is encouraged to join this group. The Club is scheduled to begin with a Triathlon Clinic on May 1. Anyone interested may pick up a flyer at the front desk! Pilates: Come and enjoy fitness training and mind-body breathing connection information based on the method of Joseph Pilates. Build a longer, leaner and stronger body using mats, exercise balls and many unique movements. Class meets: Mondays and Wednesdays 6:15-7:00 a.m./5:30-6:30 p.m. or Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00-10:00 a.m. Fees are $20 City/$33 Non-City Resident. Training Squad: Tired of the same old humdrum workout? Check out the Training Squad. Trainers will take the squad through fun and strenuous exercises that are guaranteed to burn fat, increase strength and improve endurance. Be prepared to head to the beach, the fields, the stadium or to the pool. The Trainers will do whatever it takes to ensure your success! Classes meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00-9:30 a.m. and 5:30-6:30p.m. starting June 8 and running through August 21. Come three times per week or nine times per week, the price is the same. Fees are $45 for annual members, $55 City Residents/ $90 Non-City Residents. Minimum enrollment of 6 must be met for all classes. We reserve the right to cancel any class due to low enrollment. Infant/Toddler (Ages 6 months 3 years)
Developed for children 6 months to 3 years of age: American Red Cross Parent and Child Aquatics builds swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the water. Parents and children participate in several guided practice sessions that help children learn elementary skills, including water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating, underwater exploration and more. **Special Requirements: An adult must accompany the child in the water, and swim diapers are required for those children who are not potty-trained.
Pre-School (Ages 3 5 years) Fees: $25 City Resident/$42 Non City Resident
Pre-School 1 - This class is for children with minimal or no water experience. It is for non-swimming children who are not yet comfortable putting their face in the water.
Pre-School 2 - This class is for children who are comfortable in the water, can put their face in, but are not yet swimming or floating (front and back) on their own.
Pre-School 3 - This class is for children who are very comfortable in the water, can front and back float for at least 5 seconds with NO assistance, and are swimming on their own with NO assistance or floatation device.
Advanced Pre-School This class is for children under the age of 5 who are swimming a minimum of 15 feet on their front and back with NO assistance or floatation device.

Pool Exercises at Pepper Geddings...
Grand Strand Masters Swimming: The Masters team practices from 6:30 7:30 a.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Hydroaerobics: The perfect blend of water and workout! This is a low impact, fast paced aerobic program designed to improve heart-lung capacity, flexibility and muscular strength. The class is held in the shallow end of the pool, so no swimming skills are needed. Classes meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 8:45 a.m. and from 5:30 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday starting June 8. Drop-in fees are $5 for city residents, $8 for non-city residents, or get an 18-visit punch card for $45 for city residents or $75 for non-city residents.
Off The Deep End: Similar to Hydroaerobics, Off The Deep End moves the workout to deep water. This is a high intensity, non-impact aerobic exercise class. This program is an excellent cross-training and rehabilitative opportunity. The water workout helps build muscular strength, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness. Class members wear buoyancy vests for added floatation. Participants should be comfortable in deep water. Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday form 8:00 8:45 a.m. starting June 8. Fee: Drop-in $5 City Resident /$8 Non City Resident, or $45 City Resident / $75 Non City Resident for an 18-visit punch card.
Summer Swim League Registration begins May 12 Pepper Geddings Recreation Center and Canal Street Recreation Center
Registration begins May 12 for the Summer Swim League at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center and Canal Street Recreation Center. The Summer Swim League was developed and is designed to bridge the gap that can come to exist between swimming lessons and club and or high school swimming. It is intended to be a low to medium pressure, high excitement introduction to year round competitive swimming, which can be a very important developmental experience, especially for swimmers age 12 and younger. The primary goal of the Summer Swim League is to introduce, encourage and develop a love for the sport of swimming, while instilling the values of good sportsmanship, hard work and respect. In order to accomplish this goal the program provides quality competitive swimming instruction, competition and water safety at a level that is designed to be fun for the athletes, parents and coaches.
