Adult 25-and-over Women's Volleyball Tournament

Pepper Geddings Recreation Center will hold an adult 25-and-Over Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Saturday April 19.  Warm up time will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the tournament at 9:00 a.m.  Local and out of state teams welcome.  Call Linda Hopkinson at 918-2282 for information.

 

Free Skateboarding Clinic for ages 11 and under

Hey Kids! Want to learn to skateboard?  Pepper Geddings Recreation Center is offering a free clinic for youngsters age 11 and younger.  The clinic meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Matt Hughes Skate Park.

Start Smart: Get the skills necessary for success in Youth Sports!  Start Smart Sports prepares children and their parents for organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt.  Age appropriate equipment is used in teaching throwing, catching, batting, kicking, dribbling, running and agility.  Classes meet 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

5 Star Basketball: (Ages 8-15) Start with the fundamentals of shooting and work toward more advanced skills.  Individual instruction and coaching techniques are use to insure individual progress.  Class meets on Monday from 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Fees: $5 City Residents / $8 Non City Residents.  Pre-registration is required.

 

City Spikers Volleyball:  (Ages 8-11 / 12-15)  Looking for a great sport to love?  The City Spikers are waiting for you.  Coach Linda will teach you the skills you will need to succeed.  Classes:  Ages 8-11 meet Tuesday and Thursday from 4:15 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.  Session start dates are March 25 and April 22.  Fees: $20 City Resident / $33 Non City Resident.  Pre-registration is required.

 

Training Camp:  (Ages 10-14)  Do you want to get strong and fit and ready to play your favorite sport?  You need Training Camp with Coach Greg!  Drills, contests, swimming and running all combine to improve fitness, endurance, speed and agility.  Gain the edge over your competition with Training Camp.  Class meets: Tuesday and Thursday 3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.  Fees:  $20 City Resident / $33 Non City Resident.  Pre-registration is required.

 

Running Rampage:  This class is designed to build fitness and teamwork through running games and competition.  Emphasis will be placed on creating a healthy lifestyle of fun and activity.  Class meets Tuesday and Thursday from 4:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.  Fees: $25 City Resident / $42 Non City Resident.  Pre-registration is required.

 

Fitness Foundation:  (Girls Ages 9-12)  Success in everything starts with a strong foundation!  Get the skills you need to succeed – a healthy lifestyle of fun, fitness and healthy eating.  Games, drills, contests, swimming, running, aerobics and more!  Class meets:  Monday and Wednesday 3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.  Classes start February 25, March 24 and April 21.  Fees: $20 City Resident / $33 Non City Resident.  Pre-registration is required.

 

Karate:  (Ages 5 & Older)  Tae Kwon Do is a martial art that uses both the hands and feet.  It is a sport that physically benefits the whole body.  One can develop flexibility, stamina, motor skills, strength, energy, self-confidence and balance.  Classes are ongoing with fees due at the start of each month.  Class fees:  $7 City Resident / $12 Non City Resident and $25 monthly to the instructor.

 

Pilates:  Come and enjoy fitness training and mind-body breathing connection information based on the method of Joseph Pilates.  Build a longer, leaner and stronger body using mats, exercise balls and many unique movements.  Classes meet Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m or Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Fees: $20 City Resident / $33 Non City Resident

 

BOSU:  Do you BOSU?  Join the BOSU fitness class to increase your core strength and tone your abdominal and back muscles.  Come find out what all the excitement is about!  Class meets Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. or Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.  The monthly fees are $10 City Resident / $17 Non City Resident.

 

Adult / Senior Women’s Volleyball:  This is a special time for Senior Women to come out and play!  Join our group for fun and fitness and some great volleyball play.  Linda will be on hand to coach and encourage.  Class meets 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.  Free with membership or $3 per visit.

 

Lunchtime Adult Men’s Basketball: Looking for a good lunchtime workout?  Join in for some highly competitive full court ball from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Free with membership or $3 per visit.

 

Fitness Over 50:  A fun and active workout geared just for our over 50 folks.  Upbeat music, moderate impact activity and a group of folk from age 50-90 are the perfect combination for fun!  Class meets: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.  Class fees:  $42 City Resident / $75 Non City Resident for 24 visits.  This class is on going and new members are always welcome.

 

Cardio Circuit:  Fast pace workout designed to strengthen and tone all major muscle groups.  Utilizes the principles of circuit training and interval training to get the most possible out of this intense 45-minute class.  Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.  Monthly fees:  $20 City Resident / $33 Non City Resident.  This class is on going and new members are always welcome.

 

Boot Camp:  The toughest class you’ll ever love.  This class uses hard work and sweat to take those extra pounds off and build the body you’ve always wanted.  Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Monthly fees:  $20 City Resident / $33 Non City Resident.

 

Cardio Explosion:  Join Greg for this high-energy hour combining aerobics and core strength training.  Classes meet Monday and Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Monthly fees: $20 City Resident / $33 Non City Resident.

 

POOL EXERCISES AT PEPPER GEDDINGS

 

Hydroaerobics:  The perfect blend of water and workout!  This is a low impact, fast paced aerobic program designed to improve heart-lung capacity, flexibility and muscular strength.  The class is held in the shallow end of the pool, so no swimming skills are needed.  Classes meet from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. or 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Drop-in fees are $5 for city residents, $8 for non-city residents, or get an 18-visit punch card for $45 for city residents or $75 for non-city residents.

 

Off The Deep End:  Similar to Hydroaerobics, Off The Deep End moves the workout to deep water.  This is a high intensity, non-impact aerobic exercise class.  This program is an excellent cross-training and rehabilitative opportunity.  The water workout helps build muscular strength, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness.  Class members wear buoyancy vests for added floatation.  Participants should be comfortable in deep water.  Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday form 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. and are taught by an AEA certified Aquatic Exercise Instructor.  Fee:  Drop-in $5 City Resident /$8 Non City Resident, or $45 City Resident / $75 Non City Resident for an 18-visit punch card.

 

Pre-Registration is required for classes.  The Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel any class that does not meet minimum enrollment.
