Crabtree Memorial Gymnasium is closed for a 14-month expansion and renovation, but weight and fitness equipment has been moved to the nearby Base Recreation Center. The $6 million Crabtree renovation project includes a new entrance, two new racquetball courts, new aerobics studios, additional parking, air conditioning improvements and other renovations. The work will be complete in October 2008. Some of Crabtree’s classes also are being taught at the Base Recreation Center, including Evening Cardio Kickboxing, Xpress Fitness Workout, Personal Training with Crabtree Crew and Senior Fitness. The Base Recreation Center’s hours have been expanded. The center is now open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday; from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday; and from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday. Please note that the Base Recreation Center does not have locker rooms or showers. Call 918-2380 for more information. Staff
