The Myrtle Beach Police Department Crime Scene Unit is a five-person team consisting of a Supervising Corporal and four Specialists. This Unit operates out of the Investigative Division as a support group. The basic responsibilities of the Crime Scene Unit are to investigate and process evidence from crimes. This includes numerous types of evidence from homicides and death investigations to evidence from minor cases such as shoplifting cases, petit larcenies, forgeries and even traffic related investigations. The Unit has a Specialist working or on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for quick and accurate responses. All Specialists are certified Police Officers with experience prior to being assigned to the Crime Scene Unit. All Specialists receive advanced training in such areas as photography, forensics and fingerprinting.
