As part of Military Appreciation Days, the City of Myrtle Beach dedicated two new historical features for the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. One was a display of "nose art" at Warbird Park on Farrow Parkway, where three planes from the former base are on static display. "Nose art" is the decoration that pilots applied to their planes. Frequent subjects were wives and girlfriends, along with battle foes. The second dedication was for the Air Force Base history museum at the Base Recreation Center on Gabreski Lane. The museum features photographs, uniforms, mementos and historical panels from the people who served at the base.
