Myrtle Beach's oceanfront boardwalk is officially open!  Ribbon cutting ceremonies for the new 1.2 mile boardwalk were held Saturday, May 15, during the Beach Music Festival.  A large crowd attended the event, both to celebrate the boardwalk's dedication and to see Buddy Valastro, TLC's "Cake Boss."  Valastro made a giant flip-flop-shaped cake for the occasion, which everyone enjoyed.  The National Shag Dance Champions also performed, and a historical marker recalling the various Myrtle Beach Pavilions that stood nearby was unveiled.  The city announced that the northern portion of the boardwalk will be named "Gloria's Way," in honor of Gloria Lindsay Sapp, a teacher, hotelier, volunteer and businesswoman who was a longtime friend of Myrtle Beach.
