The history of the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base is on display at three locations, including the Base Recreation Center on Gabreski Lane.  The museum in the center's lobby focuses on the air base's activities and involvement in Desert Shield/Desert Storm, the first Persian Gulf war.  Historical panels tell the story of the people who served at the Myrtle Beach base and the machines they flew.  Displays include uniforms and flight suits, a gun barrel from an A-10 Warthog and photos of key base personnel, such as then-Colonel Robert Reed, who later retired as a four-star Air Force general.
