Members of the Police Unity Tour bicycled through Myrtle Beach today, on their way to the National Police Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. While here, the cyclists took part in memorial services for the two Myrtle Beach police officers killed in the line of duty. Officer Henry Howard Scarborough was shot and killed in 1949 on his first day on the job. Today's service in his honor was held graveside at Ocean Woods Cemetery. Patrolman First Class Joseph McGarry was shot and killed December 29, 2002. Today's service was held at the Ted C. Collins Law Enforcement Center. Family members presented the Unity Tour riders with a police department patch and a bracelet bearing the officer's name.
