Inventors, artists, athletes, musicians, poets, politicians and more are featured in the Museum of African American History on display through March 3 at Canal Street Recreation Center. As part of Black History Month, the museum recounts the accomplishments of people such as Fredrick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, Jackie Robinson, Rosa Parks, Althea Gibson, Langston Hughes, Louis Armstrong, W. E. B. DuBois, George Washington Carver and Jesse Owens, just to name a few. Black inventors' contributions range from stop lights to toilet paper, and from lemon squeezers to advances in opthalmic surgery. As part of the exhibit, a television replays portions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I have a dream" speech.
