Construction is well underway on Myrtle Beach's new oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade.  When completed in late spring, the 1.2 mile boardwalk will consist of three distinct sections stretching from the 14th Avenue Pier to First Avenue North.  The northern section is a traditional, raised wooden boardwalk along the dune line.  The center section ranges in width from 25 to 50 feet and is adjacent to restaurants and shops in the downtown area.  Look for sidewalk cafes in this area.  The southern section offers a wide and winding concrete pathway among landscaped and grassy lawn areas, between the dunes and hotels on Ocean Boulevard.  These construction photos were taken last week.  More information is available on-line, including illustrations.
