12th Annual Black History Celebration set for Saturday, February 23

The Historic Myrtle Beach Colored School Museum and Education Center presents Mardi Gras at Charlie’s Place for the 12th Annual Black History Celebration.  The event is set for 5:30 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Mary C. Canty Recreation Center, 971 Canal Street.  The attire is masquerade/semi-formal.  Come out and enjoy free food and live entertainment.

This year’s unsung heroes are:   Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune; Myrtle Beach Chief Municipal Judge Jennifer Wilson; Dr. Debra Johnson-Grate; Purple Heart recipient Sergeant Harold Blye; Community Advocate Frank Burgess; Entrepreneur Mr. Joe White (Posthumously); Georgetown Mayor Brendon Barber and Conway Mayor Barbara Blain-Bellamy.
