Giant helium balloon ride coming to Myrtle Beach

At Tuesday's meeting, the Myrtle Beach City Council issued a special event permit to Skyrider Park, a tethered helium balloon ride on Eighth Avenue North beginning in April. A helium-filled ballon 62 feet in diameter will lift passengers about 300 feet off the ground, providing a great view of the oceanfront and the Grand Strand. The gondola will carry up to 20 riders at a time. Helium is an inert, non-flamable gas. The ...balloon will be visible for some distance when the tether is extended.
