Myrtle Beach and community mourns loss of city team member

We regret to report that Timothy "Tim" Taylor, a 10-year member of the Myrtle Beach team, died this morning as a result of a traffic accident. Tim was on his way to work for the Solid Waste Division when the wreck occurred on Mr. Joe White Avenue Extension.

The City of Myrtle Beach extends deepest condolences to Tim's family and to his fellow staff members in our Public Works Department. “Tim’s passing has deeply affected us all,” Public Works Director Janet Curry said. “Our team continues to support Tim’s family though our prayers and our presence.”

The city cancelled solid waste service today. Service will resume tomorrow, on a one day delay. Tuesday’s route will be collected Wednesday; Wednesday’s route will be collected Thursday; and Thursday’s route will be collected Friday. We apologize for the inconvenience.

At this time, the city is collecting residential household waste only, due to staff limitations caused by flooding. Recycling, debris and bulky junk collections will return as soon as possible. Thank you to our residents for their patience.
