What to do if you have a power outage in Myrtle Beach

SEPTEMBER 30, 2022

Myrtle Beach is expecting tropical storm conditions most of the day Friday, as Ian makes landfall along the southern South Carolina coast Friday morning. Look for sustained winds of 39 miles per hour or more, with periods of heavy rain. If you have a power outage, report it to Santee Cooper at http://stormcenter.santeecooper.com or by calling 888-769-7688. The URL also shows a map of current power outages within Santee Cooper’s territory. Myrtle Beach city offices are closed today, although Police and Fire operations continue as usual. Our Public Works and Parks Division crews are ready to respond as need to downed trees and other issues from the storm. If Ian passes as expected, city recreation centers and Chapin Memorial Library will reopen Saturday, but stay tuned for confirmation of tomorrow’s operations later today.
