Myrtle Beach debuts new tower ladder truck

Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue added a new ride to its fleet.  The 2018 Pierce Velocity Tower Ladder Truck will better serve Myrtle Beach, offering a 100 feet aerial ladder, the ability to transport 300 gallons of water and the capability to pump 1,500 gallons of water per minute. 

The new fire truck uses a smart-power 15 kilowatt generator and low voltage LED lights.  It has battery powered extrication (hoses,etc) tools and a more modern paint scheme.  The truck has a $1,132,228 price tag.  The Fire Department traded its old 2002 tower ladder truck for $150,000 which saved $54,357 through a prepayment incentive.
