Savannah's Playground receives SC Municipal Association Achievement Award

Members of the Myrtle Beach City Council and former Mayor John Rhodes were on hand in Hilton Head this weekend to receive the Municipal Association's Achievement Award for Savannah's Playground.

Pictured (left to right, front to back) are former Mayor John Rhodes, Savannah Thompson (the playground's namesake), Mayor Brenda Bethune, Parks Director Richard Kirby, City Councilwoman Jackie Vereen, Assistant City Manager Fox Simons, City Councilwoman Mary Jeffcoat and City Councilman Gregg Smith.

The $1.5 million enabling playground in Grand Park near The Market Common is ADA compliant and designed for children with disabilities. Parents and caregiviers with disabilities also find the playground accommodating, allowing them to play with their children. The Achievement Award is in the public service category.
