COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER – Police Department. Performs responsible and specialized work in the operation of dispatching police, fire and EMS personnel and equipment to fire, crime and/or accident scenes, operate 911 and CAD for all emergency calls, does related clerical duties as required.  Must have general knowledge of the City and location of important buildings, first aid, police records systems and clerical procedures. Must have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and ability to successfully complete SCCJA basic communications and NCIC training.  Must be 21 years old to comply with State of South Carolina Law Enforcement entrance requirements and possess a valid driver’s license. REQUIRED:  Completed Standard Application, Supplemental Application along with required documents as outlined in the document section, Authorization to Release Information, Statement of Honesty and Personal History Questionnaire.  Resumes accepted only with completed application package.  Starting Salary: $34,042/year, plus benefits.  Application deadline:  5:00 p.m., February 29, 2016.  

 

DETENTION OFFICER – Police Department. Oversees prisoners and assists the public; takes complaints, accident and incident reports.  Operates 911 and C.A.D. for all emergency calls with required related work.  Requires general knowledge of the methods and practices of prisoner control, related laws and knowledge of typing and computer operations. Must have high school or equivalent, clerical, computer or business experience, be 21 years old to comply with SC Law Enforcement Council entrance requirements and possess a valid driver’s license. REQUIRED:  Completed Standard Application, Supplemental Application along with required documents as outlined in the document section, Statement of Honesty, Physical Agility Test & Score Sheet, Authorization to Release Information Form and Personal History Questionnaire. LIBRARY ASSISTANT – Chapin Memorial Library. Temporary/Part-Time.  Performs basic library functions in all areas of the library, as needed.  Work hours will vary, to include nights and weekends.  Must have a high school education, the ability to work and communicate clearly with all ages, excellent customer service skills, and experience working with computers.  Position requires the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pulls objects weighing 5-10 pounds regularly, 20-50 pounds occasionally in setting up and breaking down tables and chairs for programs, be at least 18 years old and possesses a valid driver’s license.  Rate: $12.61/hour.  No benefits.  Application deadline:  5:00 p.m., February 22, 2016.

 

MAINTENANCE WORKER – Public Works Department/Parks Division.  Performs unskilled to semi-skilled work in grounds maintenance, mowing, landscaping duties, litter control, beach & boardwalk clean up along with related required work.  Requires education and experience equivalent to completion of high school and some experience in landscaping and/or grounds keeping work, must have the ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, ability to work various shifts; including 3 AM shift, weekends, holidays, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. Salary Range: $26,418 - $41,212/year, plus benefits.  Application deadline:  5:00 p.m., February 15, 2016.

 

CREW LEADER – Public Works Department/Parks Division.  Leads and participates in the maintenance of municipal grounds, parks, and facilities. Leads crew in all aspects of beach and beach access maintenance and other related duties as assigned. Must have general knowledge of grounds maintenance practices and the ability to lead the work of others. Operates equipment and vehicles as necessary. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, considerable experience in grounds maintenance, ability to work various shifts, including 3 AM, weekends, holidays, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.  Salary Range: $33,923 - $52,921/year, plus benefits.  Application deadline:  5:00 p.m., February 15, 2016.

 

GROUNDSKEEPER – Public Works Dept./Parks Div. Temporary/Part-Time Position. (March – November) Requires some experience in basic grounds maintenance and/or picking up litter. Duties may include general grounds maintenance duties, beach & board walk clean up, litter control and other related duties as assigned. Must be able to work at a steady pace in adverse weather conditions; be dependable; operate small power equipment and follow specific oral instructions. Requires being able to work various shifts, including 3 AM shift, weekends & holidays and must be at least 18 years old. Rate:  $10.10/hour.  No Benefits.  Position open until filled.

 

INSTRUCTOR II Recreation Services Dept./Crabtree Gym.  Temporary-Part/Time.  Looking for high energy assertive individuals able to lead a variety of public recreational & fitness activities.  Duties include, but are not limited to teaching Yoga, Group Cycling, Zumba and other fitness activities. Group instruction experience & certification in multiple fitness genres & CPR Certification preferred.  Requires knowledge of computers and the ability to maintain effective relationships with citizens of all age groups, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.  Rate: $12.67/Hour.  No Benefits.  Position open until filled.

 

YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT Recreation Services Dept./Recreation Division. Pepper Geddings Recreation Center.   Temporary/Part-Time Position.  Hours of operation: 2:30 P.M. to 6 P.M.    Duties involve assisting children between the ages of 5-12 years old with homework, sports, games, organized games and arts & crafts that are enrolled in the After School Program. Requires high school, skills and experience in working with ages 5 – 12 years old in an instructional capacity; knowledge and skill in one or more recreational/athletic activities; ability to plan and organize activities; possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years old. Rate: $10.10/hour.   No Benefits.  Position open until filled.

 

RECREATION ASSISTANT Recreation Services Dept./Mary C. Canty Recreation Center. Temporary/Part-Time Position.  Duties include, but are not limited to answering telephone; registering patrons; collecting fees and cleaning work area, teaches fitness classes and youth recreation programs, and assists in all areas of the Recreation Division as needed.  Prefer CPR Certified.  Must be able to lift 50lb regularly this position involves setting up and breaking down tables and chairs for functions of 200 + throughout the week and during weekend rentals.   Requires knowledge of computers and a variety of public recreational activities and ability to maintain effective relationship with citizens of all age groups. Must have a high school education, be able to work evenings & weekends, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.  Rate:  $10.10/Hour.  No Benefits. Position open until filled.
