CITY ENGINEER Public Works Department/Engineering Division. Purpose of this position is to provide professional engineering services and consultation to the Department of Public Works and other City Departments. Participates in the review of new development plans; coordinates with the department managers in recommending infrastructure improvements; provides professional engineering consultation for City projects; and other related duties assigned. Requires any combination or experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or closely related field and a minimum 5years experience in public works, civil design, construction, and operations, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. Professional Engineer license is required.  Salary Range: 60,193 - $93,903, plus benefits. Position open until filled. 

 

RECREATION LEADERC&L Services Dept. / Recreation Division-Adult/Youth Sports. Responsible for scheduling, training, processing payment for Adult/Youth Sports officials & umpires, oversees their duties and assists in all areas of the Recreation Division as needed. Ideal candidate must have exceptional communication & interpersonal skills, strong computer skills and be able to work evenings and weekends.  Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation administration, physical education or a related field, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.  Salary Range: $30,921 - $48,238, plus benefits.  Application deadline:  5:00 p.m., January 26, 2015.  

 

METER MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANPublic Works Department/Water Division.  Installs, cleans, maintains and replaces residential and commercial meters and radio read devices; performs routine maintenance and related tasks as required.  Must possess general knowledge of operation and repair of water meters, water service rules, regulations, City area and surrounding vicinity.  Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some meter reading and/or mechanical experience, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.  Salary Range:  $27,920 - $43,555/year, plus benefits.  Application deadline:  5:00 p.m., January 26, 2015.  

 

ENGINEERING TECHNICIANPublic Works Department/Engineering Division.  Performs work relating to engineering design, computer drafting, updating property records and reviewing development plans for compliance with City ordinances and standards.  Must have thorough knowledge of laws pertaining to deed of real property, easements and related City ordinances and policies; principles and techniques of drafting, charting and mechanical drawing, and the ability to work with City departments, government agencies, businesses and the public with issues regarding utilities, property boundaries, property ownership, title abstractions and rights-of-way. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in engineering technology or related field and some engineering and property acquisition experience, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. Salary Range:  $41,430 - $64,631/year, plus benefits.  Application deadline:  5:00 p.m., January 26, 2015.

CONVENTION SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE / ATTENDANT Convention Center. Temporary/Part-Time. Performs generalized/specialized work functions associated with providing effective and efficient services to ensure a safe atmosphere to Convention Center clients, customers, and public. Duties include but are not limited to controlling entry & traffic access to events, collects & controls fees of vehicles entering & leaving paid parking lot, assist event manager with event coordination, & may perform maintenance duties, such as setting up & tearing down for events, & keeping areas clean. Must be able to work varying shifts including, days, evenings, weekends & holidays; with no minimum number of hours guaranteed. Requires HS education, strong customer service skills & be at least 18 years old. Males & Females are encouraged to apply. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Rate: $12.70/hour. No Benefits.  Position open until filled.

TRADES WORKER Convention Center. Temporary-Part/Time.  Performs electrical, painting, plumbing and carpentry duties for trade shows and conventions. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, strong electrical experience is preferred, be able to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, no set hours and weekends, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver license.  Rate: $12.61/hour. No Benefits.  Position open until filled.

RECREATION ASSISTANT Cultural & Leisure Services Department/ Recreation Division. Canal Recreation Center. Temporary/Part-Time Position.  Looking for high energy, assertive individual able to multitask at busy front desk area. Duties include, but are not limited to:  answering telephone; registering patrons; collecting fees and cleaning work area, teaches fitness classes and youth recreation programs, and assists in all areas of the Recreation Division as needed.  Prefer CPR Certified.  Must be able to lift 50lb regularly this position involves setting up and breaking down tables and chairs for functions of 200 + throughout the week and during weekend rentals.   Requires knowledge of computers and a variety of public recreational activities and ability to maintain effective relationship with citizens of all age groups. Must have a high school education, be able to work evenings & weekends, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid DL.  Rate:  $10.10/hour.  No benefits. Position open until filled.

YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT C&L Services Department/Recreation Division.  Pepper Geddings Recreation Center.   Temporary/Part-Time position. The program hours and days of operation are Monday – Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Duties involve instructing and supervising After School Program activities, such as homework, arts & crafts, organized games, sports.  Requires high school education, skills and experience in working with K - 8th grade children in an instructional capacity; knowledge and skill in one or more recreational/athletic activities; ability to plan and organize activities; be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. Rate:  $10.10/hour.   No Benefits.  Position open until filled.

MAINTENANCE WORKER/TEMP Temporary/Part-Time position for general employment pool of custodial and semi-skilled applicants to perform various types of   building maintenance and/or ground maintenance at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.  Duties include general housekeeping, maintenance, stage and room set-ups, electrical and/or general landscaping, mowing, raking, edging, planting, picking up litter, etc. Must be at least 18 years old and available to work all shifts, hours, Monday – Sunday. Both Males and Females are encouraged to apply. Rate: $11.70/hr. No benefits. Position open until filled.

LIFEGUARDCultural and Leisure Services Department/Aquatics Division.  Temporary/Part-Time. Pepper Geddings Recreation Center/Canal Street Recreation Center.  Requires current lifeguard certification, be at least 16 years old, valid driver’s license and available to work a variety of hours including evenings and weekends. Rate:  $10.10/hour. No Benefits. Position open until filled.
