FLEET SERVICES SUPERVISORPublic Works/Vehicle Maintenance Division. Performs supervisor and technical work directing crews and activities in fleet acquisition, maintenance and repair for the City.  Coordinates, supervises and performs inspection, testing and repair of engine components and systems; supervises and performs the diagnosis, maintenance and general mechanical repair on City vehicles, emergency vehicles, mechanical equipment. Operates a variety of machinery, equipment and tools associated with servicing, repairing, maintaining and testing equipment and vehicles. Assists in the creation of an annual budget for the division and other related duties as assigned. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school that is a vocational or technical diploma in automotive repair or related field; supplemented by five years of experience in fleet maintenance, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid commercial driver’s license and ASE certification.  Applicant must possess own tools.   Salary Range: $46,628 - $72,382/year, plus benefits.  Deadline to apply:  April 24, 2017 @ 5 p.m.

 

PLANNING TECHNICIANPlanning Department.  Performs responsible professional work collecting, organizing, evaluating and reporting planning data in conjunction with and for the Planning staff members.  Provides general technical assistance; processes street name requests; assist with draft of legal advertisement; provides plat review services; attends bi-monthly Plan Review meetings; maintains GIS data and provides GIS support and other related duties as assigned. Requires bachelor’s degree in Planning or related field, with coursework in GIS; one year of related experience; be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. Salary Range: $37,976 - $58,951/year, plus benefits.  Deadline to apply:  May 1, 2017 @ 5 p.m.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR, SENIOR – Public Works Department/Street Division.  Performs semi-skilled to skilled work functions related to concrete repairs throughout the City operating motorized medium to heavy weight equipment to maintain and repair curbs, gutter, sidewalks and etc. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, some experience in the operation of motorized equipment, be at least 18 years old and possess a Commercial Driver’s License. Salary Range:  $32,784 - $50,893/year, plus benefits. Deadline to apply:  May 1, 2017 @ 5 p.m.

 

RECREATION ASSISTANTRecreation Services Dept./Crabtree Gym. Temporary/Part-Time. Duties include but are not limited to leading a variety of public recreational and fitness activities. Position will include teaching Zumba, Group Cycling, aerobic and fitness classes, working a busy front desk, monitoring the gym, and assisting w/weight training. Prefer CPR Certified. Requires knowledge of computers & a variety of public recreational activities; High School or equivalent; be at least 18 years old, valid driver’s license & be able to work mornings or nights & weekends. Rate: $10.10/Hour. No Benefits. Position open until filled.

 

RECREATION ASSISTANT – Recreation Services Dept./Recreation Division. Pepper Geddings Recreation Center.  Temporary/Part-Time.  Looking for high energy, assertive camp counselors able to coach and teach a variety of sports, drills and games during summer camps for kids.  Must love kids.  Duties include, but are not limited to, monitoring or leading drills; teaching clinics; planning, programming and implementing sports activities.  Prefer CPR Certified.  Requires knowledge of a variety of public recreational activities, ability to safely and effectively instruct young people throughout daily weekday camp experiences through the summer, high school education or equivalent, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver license.  Rate: $10.10/Hour. No Benefits. Position open until filled.

 

YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANTRecreation Services Dept./Recreation Division. Pepper Geddings Recreation Center and Mary C. Canty Recreation Center.   Temporary positions for Summer Program, which runs June 5, 2017 – August 11, 2017.  The program runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.    Duties involve implementing and organizing games, sports, and art activities for children ages 5-12 years old.  Requires high school education, ability to interact with other counselors, supervisors and junior counselors, experience in working with ages 5–12 years old in an instructional capacity; knowledge and skill in one or more recreational/athletic activities; ability to plan and organize activities; possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years old. Rate:  $10.10/Hour.   No Benefits.  Position open until filled.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR, SR-Temp – Public Works Department/Parks Division. Temporary/Part-Time. Position will run March – October 2017 Primary responsibility will be the operation of the beach recycling program. Duties include operation of heavy equipment, trucks, mowers, beach maintenance equipment and other forms of equipment that are used in providing right-of-way maintenance, beach maintenance and other related duties as assigned. Requires high school education, some experience in the operation of motorized equipment, ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to the equipment; work weekends and early morning hours, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid commercial driver’s license. Rate: $14.87/Hour. No Benefits. Position open until filled.

 

RECREATION ASSISTANTRecreation Services Dept./Mary C. Canty Recreation Center. Temporary/Part-Time Position.  Duties include, but are not limited to front desk duties; answering phones; registering patrons; provide information, member and daily use sales transactions, register participants for programs, balance cash drawer, maintains order in facility, conduct fitness classes for youth, adults, seniors and assists in all areas of the Recreation Division as needed.  Prefer CPR Certified.  Must be able to lift 25lb regularly this position involves setting up and breaking down tables and chairs for functions of 200 + throughout the week and during weekend rentals.   Requires knowledge of computers and a variety of public recreational activities and ability to maintain effective relationship with citizens of all age groups. Must have a high school education, be able to work evenings & weekends, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.  Rate:  $10.10/Hour.  No Benefits. Position open until filled.

 

CONCESSIONS SERVICES CONCESSIONS ATTENDANT – Sports Tourism.  Temporary/Part-Time.  Performs generalized / specialized work functions associated with providing effective and efficient services to guests, clients and staff.  Duties include but are not limited to taking and fulfilling customer orders, operating cash register, operating cooking equipment and maintaining a clean workstation.  Requires graduation from high school, strong customer service skills, at least 16 years of age, valid driver’s license and able to work varying shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays with no minimum number of hours guaranteed.  Rate of Pay:  $10.10/hour.  No Benefits.  Position open until filled.

 

MAINTENANCE WORKER/TEMP – Convention Center.  Temporary/Part-Time position for general employment pool of custodial and semi-skilled applicants to perform various types of   building maintenance and/or ground maintenance. Duties include general housekeeping, maintenance, stage and room set-ups, electrical and/or general landscaping, mowing, raking, edging, planting, picking up litter, etc. Must be at least 18 years old and available to work all shifts, weekends, nights and holidays. Both Males and Females are encouraged to apply. Rate: $11.70/Hour.   No benefits. Position open until filled. 

 

FIRE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (PT)Fire Department. Temporary/Part-Time. – Performs intermediate technical work in the repair and maintenance of a variety of fire department vehicles and equipment.  This includes fire engines, ladder truck, cars, pickups and other specialized apparatus, plus related duties as required.  Must have knowledge of principles of operation of gas and diesel engines, hydraulics, fire pumps, generators and automotive mechanic trade.  This position requires good physical condition and the ability to work in adverse weather/temperature related conditions.  Must have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by courses in repair and maintenance of fire apparatus and diesel engines, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.  Hourly Rate: $21.79/Hour. No Benefits. Position open until filled.

 

LIFEGUARD Recreation Services Dept./Aquatics Division. Temporary/Part-Time. Pepper Geddings Recreation Center/Mary C. Canty Recreation Center. Requires current lifeguard certification, be at least 16 years old, valid driver’s license & available to work a variety of hours including evenings, weekends. Rate:  $10.10/Hour. No Benefits. Position open until filled.

 

SWIM INSTRUCTOR – Recreation Services Dept./Aquatics Division.  Temporary/Part-Time. Looking for a high energy, safety conscious person with knowledge of competitive swimming.  Duties include, but are not limited to; Swim Coach-instructing and supervising practices, creating daily workouts, and making/answering phone calls.  Responsible for teaching swimming skills to all ages. Requires American Red Cross water safety instructor certification; be at least 18 years old, and must be available to work a variety of hours including weekends. Rate:  $11.14/Hour. No Benefits. Position open until filled.

 

GROUNDSKEEPER – Public Works Department./Parks Div. Temporary/Part-Time Position.  Requires some experience in basic grounds maintenance and/or picking up litter. Duties may include general grounds maintenance duties, beach & board walk clean up, litter control and other related duties as assigned. Must be able to work at a steady pace in adverse weather conditions; be dependable; operate small power equipment and follow specific oral instructions. Requires being able to work various shifts, including 3 AM shift, weekends & holidays, able to work 40 hours per week until the Fall and must be at least 18 years old. Rate:  $10.10/hour.  No Benefits.  Position open until filled. 

 

POLICE OFFICER – Police Department.  Performs responsible protective service work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances with required related work. This position requires graduation from high school or GED equivalency, 21 years old to comply with SC Law Enforcement Council entrance requirements and possession of a valid driver’s license.  It also requires a thorough background investigation. SC Criminal Justice Certification and experience as a Police Officer is preferred.  REQUIRED:  Completed Standard Application, Supplemental Application along with required documents as outlined in the document section, Statement of Honesty, Physical Agility Test & Score Sheet, Authorization to Release Information Form, and Personal History Questionnaire.
