POLICE OFFICER – Police Department.  Performs responsible protective service work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances with required related work. This position requires graduation from high school or GED equivalency, 21 years old to comply with SC Law Enforcement Council entrance requirements and possession of a valid driver’s license.  It also requires a thorough background investigation. SC Criminal Justice Certification and experience as a Police Officer is preferred.  REQUIRED:  Completed Standard Application, Supplemental Application along with required documents as outlined in the document section, Statement of Honesty, Physical Agility Test & Score Sheet, Authorization to Release Information Form, and Personal History Questionnaire. Resumes accepted only with completed application package. Starting Salary: $36,245/year, plus benefits (non-certified); $39,706/year, plus benefits (SC certified). EQUIPMENT OPERATOR, SR – Public Works Department/Street-Stormwater Division.  Performs semi-skilled to skilled work functions operating motorized medium to heavy weight equipment operating a street sweeper, performs routine servicing and maintenance of equipment and other related duties. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, some experience in the operation of motorized equipment, weekend work and early morning hours and possess a Commercial Driver’s License. Salary: $32,784 /year, plus benefits.  Deadline to apply October 23, 2017 @ 5:00p.m.

 

YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT – Recreation Services Department/ Mary C. Canty Recreation Center. Temporary/Part-Time positions for After School Program. The program runs Monday through Friday from 2:30p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Duties involve assisting children between the ages of 5 and 12 with homework, sports, games, organized games and arts and crafts. Requires a high school education, the ability to interact with other counselors, supervisors and junior counselors, experience in working with children ages 5–12 years old in an instructional capacity, knowledge and skill in one or more recreational/athletic activities, ability to plan and organize activities, possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age. Pay Rate: $10.10/Hour. No Benefits. Position open until filled.

 

RECREATION ASSISTANT – Recreation Services Department/Tennis Center.  Temporary-Part/Time.  Responsibilities include front desk operations.  Seeking a candidate who has excellent communication skills and has previously held an administrative position.  General knowledge of tennis is not required, but preferred.  Tasks include opening/closing the facility, checking in all members/non-members, minimal computer operations with Rec Pro, tennis court maintenance, assisting in all club special events and maintaining effective relationships with citizens of all age groups.  Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license and candidate must be able to work nights, weekends and a variety of shifts.  Pay rate: $10.10/hour.  No benefits.  Position open until filled.

 

RECREATION ASSISTANT – Recreation Services Department/Train Depot.  Temporary/Part-Time. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the Event Coordinator with maintenance and operation of the Train Depot, Myrtle’s Market, Historic Myrtle Beach Colored School and all other duties as required.  Prefer CPR Certified.  Must be able to lift 25 lbs. regularly.  This position involves setting up and breaking down of tables and chairs for functions throughout the week and during weekend rentals. Requires knowledge of computers and ability to maintain effective relationship with citizens of all age groups.    Must have a high school education, be able to work evenings & weekends, be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid DL.  Pay rate:  $10.10/hour.  No benefits.  Position open until filled.

 

INSTRUCTOR II – Recreation Services Department/Crabtree Memorial Gym.  Temporary/Part-Time.  Looking for high energy, assertive individuals who are able to lead a variety of public recreational and fitness activities.  Duties include, but are not limited to teaching yoga, group cycling, Zumba and other fitness activities.  Group instruction experience and certification in multiple fitness genres and CPR Certification preferred.  Requires knowledge of computers and the ability to maintain effective relationship with citizens of all age groups, be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.  Rate $12.67/hour.  No benefits.  Position open until filled.

 

YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT – Recreation Services Department/Mary C. Canty Recreation Center. Temporary/Part-Time. This position is for the Teen Program.  Responsibilities are to assist the Recreation Youth Coordinator with mentoring and programming for the Teen Advisory Board and Teen Programs. Patience, understanding and experience working with at-risk teens required. Duties include helping with registration, assisting with meals, assisting with planning and conducting of teen programs, providing tutoring/homework help and computer assistance, attending partner meetings, helping with community service functions, transporting student for events/trips in a City vehicle, providing support for Job Readiness Training.  Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.  Hours are after school, evenings and some weekends.  Pay Rate: $10.10/hour.  No benefits.  Position open until filled.

 

CONCESSIONS SERVICES CONSESSIONS ATTENDANT – Sports Tourism.  Temporary/Part/Time.  Performs generalized/specialized work functions associated with providing effective and efficient services to guests, clients and staff.  Duties include, but are not limited to, taking and fulfilling customer orders, operating cash register, operating cooking equipment and maintaining a clean workstation.  Requires high school education, strong customer service skills, must be at least 16 years of age with a valid driver’s license and be able to work varying shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays with no minimum number of hours guaranteed.  Rate of pay is $10.10/hour.  No benefits.  Position open until filled.

 

Contractual - Sports Official – Position is not City Designated - Assignment Locations at Ned Donkle Field (Pepper Geddings) & Grand Park (over at Market Common).   The City of Myrtle Beach is looking for dependable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable men and women to officiate youth and adult sports for the City of Myrtle Beach athletic leagues.  Officials have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of sports at various sites across the city.  Sports include but are not limited to youth baseball/softball, basketball, football, scorekeeping, adult softball, kickball, and flag football.  Previous sports officiating experience preferred but not required.  References are requested.  Individual must attend season meetings and pass criminal background check.  Individual must be able to work independently and as a part of a crew, must demonstrate good decision making skills, the ability to interact well with adults and children, understand and apply rules, and be able to deal with the public diplomatically.   The work is performed indoors/outdoors and in all kinds of weather, Monday – Thursday and 1- 4 nights a week.   Rate: $20 - $30 per game depending on age group and the sport.  Please Note: This employee will receive a 1099 at the end of the year for tax purposes.
