ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER Perform managerial and administrative work to assist in the oversight of the daily operations of the City government.  Reports to the City Manager.  Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff; processing employee concerns and problems; directing work, counseling and disciplining; establishes long range plans, goals and objectives; works with department heads; and ensures programs, services and systems support City goals and objectives.  Successful candidate will possess strong leadership and customer service skills along with innovative and strong communication abilities.  Requires Master’s degree in public administration; ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in local government; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job; be at least 18 years old; possess and maintain a valid SC driver’s license.  Cover letter and resume including present salary is requested. Salary Range:  $95,704 – $130,000/yr- DOQ, plus benefits.  Application deadline:  5:00 p.m., December 5, 2014.

INVENTORY CLERK Finance Department/Purchasing-Warehouse Div. Performs responsible storeroom/warehouse duties to include purchasing, maintaining inventory and providing goods and services to all City departments and employees. Requires general knowledge of storeroom and inventory procedures and practices; ability to keep accurate records of items received, issued and on hand; skill in the operation of a variety of office and warehouse equipment and ability to perform physical activities such as heavy lifting.  Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. Salary Range: $26,418 - $41,212/yr, plus benefits.  Application deadline:  5:00 p.m., November 10, 2014.

POLICE OFFICER Police Department.  Performs responsible protective service work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances with required related work. This position requires graduation from high school or GED equivalency, 21 years old to comply with SC Law Enforcement Council entrance requirements and possession of a valid driver’s license.  It also requires a thorough background investigation. SC Criminal Justice Certification and experience as a Police Officer is preferred.  REQUIRED:  Completed Standard Application,  Supplemental Application  along with required documents as outlined in the document section, Statement of Honesty, Physical Agility Test & Score Sheet, Authorization to Release Information Form, and Personal History Questionnaire. COMMUNICATIONS OFFICERPolice Department.  Performs responsible and specialized work in the operation of dispatching police, fire and EMS personnel and equipment to fire, crime and/or accident scenes, operate 911 and CAD for all emergency calls, does related clerical duties as required.  Must have general knowledge of the City and location of important buildings, first aid, police records systems and clerical procedures. Must have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and ability to successfully complete SCCJA basic communications and NCIC training.  Must be 21 years old to comply with State of South Carolina Law Enforcement entrance requirements and possess a valid driver’s license. DETENTION OFFICERPolice Department. Oversees prisoners and assists the public; takes complaints, accident and incident reports.  Operates 911 and C.A.D. for all emergency calls with required related work.  Requires general knowledge of the methods and practices of prisoner control, related laws and knowledge of typing and computer operations. Must have high school or equivalent, clerical, computer or business experience, be 21 years old to comply with SC Law Enforcement Council entrance requirements and possess a valid driver’s license. REQUIRED:  Completed Standard Application, Supplemental Application along with required documents as outlined in the document section, Statement of Honesty, Physical Agility Test & Score Sheet, Authorization to Release Information Form and Personal History Questionnaire. COMMUNITY SERVICES OFFICER Police Department.  Assist certified officers in enforcing state and local laws and ordinances. Duties include but are not limited to assisting with patrolling areas of the City to detect quality of life issues (littering, junk, and obstructions), directs traffic and performs school crossing duties, respond to the needs of the general public and specific assignments as assigned. This position requires graduation from high school or GED, must be at least 18 and possess a valid driver’s license.  It also requires a thorough background investigation. No previous experience is required.  REQUIRED: Completed Standard Application, Supplemental application along with required documents as outlined in the document section, Statement of Honesty, Authorization to Release Information Form, and Personal History Questionnaire.  Resumes accepted only with completed application package. LIFEGUARDCultural and Leisure Services Department/Aquatics Division.  Temporary/Part-Time. Pepper Geddings Recreation Center/Canal Street Recreation Center.  Requires current lifeguard certification, be at least 16 years old, valid driver’s license and available to work a variety of hours including evenings and weekends. Rate:  $10.10/hour. No Benefits. Position open until filled.

INSTRUCTOR II C&L Services Department/Pepper Geddings Recreation Center.  Temporary-Part/Time Positions.  Looking for high energy, assertive individuals able to lead a variety of public recreational and fitness activities.  Duties include, but are not limited to, instructing fitness classes and coaching new members towards personal health and fitness goals.  Group instruction experience and current certifications in multiple fitness genres and CPR Certification preferred.  Requires knowledge of computers and ability to maintain effective relationships with citizens of all age groups.  Rate: $12.67/hour.  No Benefits.  Position open until filled.

SWIM INSTRUCTOR Cultural and Leisure Services Department/Aquatics Division.  Temporary/Part-Time position. Looking for a high energy, safety conscious person with knowledge of competitive swimming.  Duties include, but are not limited to; Swim Coach-instructing and supervising practices, creating daily workouts, and making/answering phone calls.  Responsible for teaching swimming skills to all ages. Requires water safety instructor certification; be at least 17 years old, valid driver’s license and must be available to work a variety of hours including weekends.  Rate:  $11.14/hour.  No Benefits.  Position open until filled.
