Summer Sports and Fitness Camps

Registration for the 2018 Sport and Fitness Camps begins on Monday, April 2, 2018.                                            

Camp details: 
Monday through Friday 
(Beach Camp and Triathlon Camp have limited days and times)                                                      

8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. optional open gym time* (gym will be monitored by Recreation staff) 
9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sports Camp instruction
2:30 to 4:30 p.m. optional open swim time* (lifeguards will be on duty) 
2:30 to 5:30 p.m. optional open gym time* (gym will be monitored by Recreational staff)
*No additional fees needed for open gym or swim time.                                                                           

Fees: $54.00 City Residents / $95 Non-City Residents       
($10 discount for each additional child in the same household)                                                                 
Bring your own lunch. Snack will be provided daily at 2:30 p.m.                                                                            
All grades for camps are rising 2018/19 school year.

All Sports Camp...  This camp will introduce campers to skills in basketball, volleyball, soccer, football, and lacrosse. As well as increase their understanding of these games. Fun and fitness will be emphasized along with the fundamentals of speed, agility, coordination, and strength. This camp will meet indoors and out, as appropriate to best teach the skills of the sport.

            June 11 through 15, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Grades 2-5

Soccer Camp…  Campers will improve their skills, learn the basics of ball handling and team play. Drills and scrimmages will be played to emphasize both individual improvement and teamwork focusing on fundamental technical aspects. This camp will meet outdoors so apply sunscreen before arrival.

            June 18 through 22, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Grades 2-5

Recreation Camp…  Campers will experience different types of recreation such as Field Day, water and swimming games and other indoor and outdoor games enjoyed by children over the years. In some cases, the campers will get to choose their recreation from a variety of activities. This week is jam packed full of fun and exciting activities for the campers.

            June 25 through 29, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Grades 2-6

Beach Camp…  Spend 3 days at the beach having fun in the sun. Activities will include surfing, Junior Lifeguard training, beach volleyball, and sand castle building contest. Kids will learn essential ocean safety and fun facts about the ocean environment all while having fun! Parent drop off (8:45-9:00 a.m.) and pick up (12:00-12:15 p.m.) is located at Holmes B. Springs Park at 45th Ave North and Ocean Blvd. Beach camp is limited to 25 participants and experienced swimmers ONLY!

            July 9, 10, 11, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 9:00-12:00 p.m., Grades 4-6 

Lacrosse Camp…  You’ve got to get in on the fastest game on the beach. Whether you’ve played for years, months, or never before, this camp will help you learn and improve your basic skills for playing the game. Groundballs, cradling, passing, and shooting will be emphasized. No equipment? If you have it, wear it, but if not we will provide at least a stick for drill that safe and fun. This camp will meet outdoors so apply sunscreen before arrival.

            July 16-20, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Grades 2-7

Volleyball Camp…  Whether you need to learn the basics of volleyball of increase your abilities to make your school team, this camp will teach the fundamentals of serving, passing, setting, blocking, and spiking. To advance their skills, players will also learn courts strategy, offense, and defense.

            July 23-27, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Grades 4-9

Basketball Camp…  This camp is packed with competition and drills to boost your skills. All players will learn to apply their own abilities through individual and group instruction. Participants will work in skill-appropriate groups to maximize the effectiveness and fun throughout the week. 

            August 6-10, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Grades 2-5

Triathlon Camp…  This camp will focus on the 3 disciplines that make up a triathlon; swimming, biking, and running. Each day of camp will consist of training in each discipline in hopes of improving their skills for a competitive race on Saturday. The Triathlon Race will be on Saturday, August 18th at 8:00 a.m. Race registration is included. A bike and helmet are required. Campers must be able to swim the length of the pool alone to compete in the race. (Note camp days and times are limited.)

August 13-16, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 to 2:30pm, Grades 3-9                                                                
Triathlon Race-  8:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18
