Construction Services

             The Construction Services Department enforces city laws pertaining to zoning, signs, tree protection, abandoned vehicles, lighting and glare, landscaping, weed and trash control, plan review, solicitation, construction inspections, trade permits and overall development requirements.

     Construction Services reviews and approves permits for residential and commercial construction.  The following procedures, schedules and forms apply.  For more information, contact Construction Services at 843-918-1111.  The city has a comprehensive zoning ordinance in effect that protects property owners from the encroachment of incompatible land uses. City inspectors administer and enforce the International Building Codes. Building and tree-cutting permits are available through the Construction Services Department. 

     The city's Community Appearance Board reviews signs and building plans. The following forms and submittal scheduleapply.  For more information, contact Construction Services at 843-918-1111.

     The city's Board of Zoning Appeals hears appeals from zoning decisions and considers requests for variances from zoning regulations.  The following forms are available.  Please be sure to read the application instructions.  For more information, contact the Zoning Administrator at 843-918-1167.
