10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2013

Registration begins at 9:00, with entertainment at 9:30

Everyone's invited to take advantage of our great winter weather and enjoy the 5K Health Walk on the Boardwalk and Beach.  This free event is hosted by the City of Myrtle Beach, in support of the American Heart Association.  The walk begins at 10:00 a.m. from Plyler Park and loops between Pier 14 and Withers Swash, ending at Plyler Park.

"People had a great time last year," said Kevin Morris, center coordinator at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center.  "It's a great way to get out and enjoy the boardwalk, get some exercise, see the beach and make a difference with the American Heart Association."

Pre-event festivities begin at 9:30 a.m.  Enjoy the tunes of DJ Marino, while Zumba instructors conduct "Zumba at the Beach."  Again, this is a free event.  If you're in the Choose program at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center, wear your Choose shirt!
