The Myrtle Beach Table Tennis Club plays Wednesday and Thursday, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the Base Recreation Center.  Play for $2 or memberships are available.

Corner Icon  Hours...  The Base Recreation Center is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and only by reservation on the weekends.  The city acquired the center when the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base closed.  Since then, the center has been renovated and the parking has been expanded.  It's now part of Grand Park and the lively Market Common District. 


Blue Box  The ballroom at the Base Recreation Center (see photo at right) is available for wedding receptions, retirement parties, family reunions, business meetings, bridal showers, birthday parties and luncheons.  It features a stage and can seat up to 300 people.  Call the center at 843-918-2380 for reservations and rates.

The Base Recreation Center is a great place for meetings, games, classes, activities and receptions.  The center includes a ballroom, a stage and several meeting rooms.  Billiards, horseshoes and table tennis are available during business hours and are free! 

Free Wi-Fi  Free Wi-Fi is available  Wednesday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Bring your own laptop, enjoy some coffee, catch up on world news and surf the web.

 

Senior Social Networking…  Feeling left behind due to all the online fun others are having? Need help sending e-mails with attachments or creating a new online social registration?  Then you should to come to the Base Recreation Center!  The Senior Social Networking class offers instruction tailored to a senior population.  Learn how to create accounts and use online networking sites.  A laptop is not required, but recommended.  Sessions are every Wednesday, 3:00 – 3:45 p.m., beginning September 7.  Classes are drop-ins, with a maximum of 20 per session.  Fee:  $1 City Residents / $3 Non-City Residents.

How to Paint a Mural: with Jackie Stacharowski on Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (six week session).  $20/person for city residents and $33/person for non-city residents, or $5 per visit for city residents and $8 per visit for non-city residents.  Session runs from January 5 to February 9, 2012

 

Adult Pool League…  Enjoy billiards?  Come join a Pool League!  Players will shoot singles in head-to-head competition each Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.  A handicap system is used to make it fun and fair.  Expect a $5.00 entry fee and $1.00 weekly dues.  For more information, please contact 843-918-2380. 

 

Adult and Senior Movie Schedule…  Come enjoy a free movie for adults and seniors every Friday at 3:00 p.m.  Soft drinks and popcorn are available for $1 each.

Bingo…   Bingo, anyone?  Come play every Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. There is no charge for bingo, but please bring a prize for the prize table!

 

Quilting…  Come join the Grand Strand Quilters on Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.  Learn how to make your very own quilt or show off your skills to others.  All are welcome to join this fun and exciting group.  Just $2 per visit.  Annual memberships are available for $10 per year for city residents or $17 for non residents.

 

Line Dance Lessons…  with Sandra Morris every Thursday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Just $4 per person for city residents or $7 for non residents.  You’ll love the music, fun and friendly people!

 

Guitar Lessons…  with Steve Marino every Thursday by appointment.  Quick and easy instructions for the beginner student; theory and technique for the developed guitarist.  Classes are in 40 minute time slots.  Students must have their own guitar and call to schedule a time.  Maximum 4 students per time slot.  Fees:  $5 per class for city residents and $8 per class for non-residents.
